This will take place on Saturday September 17 from 2 - 4 pm. All are invited to attend. Ross has been painting onsite along the mountain streams of western and central British Columbia for many years. January 6th - 2004 I've been working on renovating my website lately, with a good deal of help from my son Evan. The new website will be easier to get around in and should look even better. I have a number of paintings in a new gallery opening up in Edmonton, Alberta this month. Brent Leubke is an established private dealer there and is now opening a large gallery space. Here's another painting from the trip across Canada - its called Long Trip September 16 - 2003 I travelled to Montreal and the Hull area of the Gatineau hills this summer. My painting "Roadtrip" and others were inspired by this experience. Here is a detail of that painting. I am painting more and larger works in acrylic, and am excited by the new ideas I am exploring in my painting. I will be showing some new watercolours at the Bel Art Gallery this autumn and a show of acrylic landscapes is in planning for 2004 at the Seymour Art Gallery. My banners have been hung on Lonsdale Avenue.    November 10 - 2002 It has been a productive time since I last wrote here. I am doing more medium size works on canvas as well as watercolours. The dry weather of the last few months has made it very pleasant to be outdoors and so I have a lot of drawings to work with over the winter. I work from drawings made on location, (rather than photographs) and so wet weather isn't the best condition for outdoor work. While I'm on the subject of painting from photographs there are a few points I'd like to make. Drawing, for me, is a more personal approach to the subject matter. Photography tends to dictate too strongly it's own visual laws. I prefer to draw and make my own selections in the process of abstracting from nature that way. Next spring I and two other artists will be preparing banners to hang on Lonsdale Avenue ( the main street of North Vancouver). This came as the result of a competition in September. This is my design for the business district included here. March 13 - 2002 Thought it would be fun to have a picture or two of my recent shows on the site.
